How to Use Simple Paint

Simple Paint is a free browser-based drawing app inspired by classic paint programs. It works on both desktop and mobile devices with no downloads, signups, or watermarks.

  1. Choose a tool. Select pencil for fine lines, brush for thicker strokes, eraser to remove, or fill to flood an area with color.
  2. Pick a color. Click a preset swatch or use the color picker for any color. The active color applies to pencil, brush, and fill tools.
  3. Adjust brush size. Use the slider to set line thickness from 1px to 30px.
  4. Draw on the canvas. Click/tap and drag to draw. On touch devices, use your finger.
  5. Undo mistakes. Click undo or press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac). Redo with Ctrl+Shift+Z.
  6. Save your work. Click Download to save as PNG. Your work also autosaves every 30 seconds in case you accidentally close the tab.

About Simple Paint

Simple Paint runs entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Nothing is uploaded to any server. Your drawings stay on your device. The autosave feature stores a backup in your browser's local storage so you can resume if you accidentally close the page. For a more kid-friendly version with rainbow brushes and stickers, try the Drawing Pad for Kids.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my drawing saved automatically?

Yes. Simple Paint autosaves your canvas to your browser's local storage every 30 seconds. If you close the tab and reopen it, your last autosave will be loaded. For a permanent copy, click the Download button to save as PNG.

Can I use this on my phone or tablet?

Yes. Simple Paint supports touch input on phones and tablets. Draw with your finger or a stylus. The canvas scales to fit your screen. For the best experience on a tablet, use it in landscape orientation.

Is there a way to change the canvas size?

The canvas automatically sizes to fit your screen width (up to 800px wide). The downloaded PNG matches the canvas size at full resolution. For pixel-precise work at specific dimensions, try the Pixel Art Maker which offers grid sizes from 8x8 to 128x128.
