About Counting Scenes
Counting Scenes is a visual counting activity designed for preschool and early-kindergarten children. Each scene scatters a mix of colorful shapes, animals, and objects across a canvas, then asks the child to count how many of one specific type appear. This builds one-to-one correspondence, number recognition, and careful observation skills.
Every image is generated from a fixed library of simple shapes and icons. The game runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded or stored. No external data is used.
Frequently Asked Questions
What age is Counting Scenes suitable for?
The activity is designed for children ages 3 through 5. Easy mode with 3 to 5 items works well for three-year-olds, while Hard mode with 8 to 12 items challenges older preschoolers and kindergarteners.
Is this safe for kids?
Yes. Every image is generated from a fixed library of hand-picked shapes and icons. No AI is used. The game cannot display anything outside this curated set of simple shapes, cartoon animals, and everyday objects. There are no external data feeds, no user-generated content, and no chat features. Parents and teachers can let children play with complete confidence.
Can I print counting worksheets?
Yes. Click "Print Worksheet" for a clean version with the scene and question that children can solve on paper. Click "Print with Answers" to get the same worksheet with the correct count and target items circled. Both work on US Letter and A4 paper.
How many different scenes can it generate?
The game uses a seeded random number generator with a library of 24 sprites, multiple colors, and random positions. The number of possible unique scenes is effectively unlimited. Every time you click "Generate Scene" without entering a seed, you get a brand new puzzle.
