How to Use the Paycheck Date Calculator

This calculator shows your next 12 pay dates based on your pay frequency and last paycheck date. Here is how to use it:

  1. Enter your last pay date. Select the date of your most recent paycheck using the date picker. The calculator defaults to today if you leave it blank.
  2. Choose your pay frequency. Pick weekly, biweekly (every two weeks), semi-monthly (1st and 15th), or monthly from the dropdown.
  3. Read your schedule. The next payday appears as the primary result. Below it, a table lists all 12 upcoming pay dates with the day of the week for each.

Results update instantly when you change either input. Use the Share button to send a pre-filled link, or Copy to grab the next payday.

About Pay Schedules

Your pay frequency determines how often you receive a paycheck and how many paychecks you get per year. The four most common schedules in the United States are weekly (52 paychecks), biweekly (26 paychecks), semi-monthly (24 paychecks), and monthly (12 paychecks). Biweekly is the most popular, used by roughly 36% of U.S. employers according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

For semi-monthly schedules, payday falls on the 1st and 15th of each month. If either date lands on a Saturday or Sunday, the calculator advances the pay date to the following Monday, which is the standard practice at most companies. All calculations run entirely in your browser. No data is sent anywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between biweekly and semi-monthly pay?

Biweekly means you get paid every two weeks (26 paychecks per year). Semi-monthly means you get paid twice a month on fixed dates, typically the 1st and 15th (24 paychecks per year). Biweekly paychecks are always the same amount, while semi-monthly pay periods can vary slightly in length.

Which months have 3 paychecks on a biweekly schedule?

On a biweekly schedule, two months each year will have three paychecks instead of two. Which months depends on your specific pay dates. Use this calculator to see all your upcoming dates and identify those three-paycheck months for budgeting purposes.

How many paychecks do I get per year?

It depends on your pay frequency. Weekly pay gives you 52 paychecks per year, biweekly gives 26, semi-monthly gives 24, and monthly gives 12. The more frequently you are paid, the smaller each individual paycheck, but the total annual amount stays the same.

What happens if my payday falls on a weekend or holiday?

Most employers pay on the business day before or after the weekend. This calculator advances weekend pay dates to the following Monday for semi-monthly schedules. For weekly and biweekly schedules, your pay date is fixed to the same day of the week, so weekends are not an issue. Holiday adjustments vary by employer and are not reflected here.
