How to Use Shadow Matching

  1. Choose a difficulty. Easy mode shows 3 pairs, Medium shows 5, and Hard shows 8. Start with Easy for younger children.
  2. Look at the objects. On the left you will see colorful objects: animals, shapes, and everyday items. On the right you will see black silhouettes of the same objects, but in a different order.
  3. Match them up. Click or tap a colorful object on the left, then click its matching silhouette on the right. A line will connect them when you match correctly.
  4. Complete the puzzle. Keep matching until every object is connected to its shadow. Then click "Next Puzzle" for a fresh set.

About Shadow Matching

Shadow matching is a classic preschool activity that builds visual discrimination, shape recognition, and focus. Children learn to identify an object by its outline alone, ignoring color and detail. This strengthens the same mental skills used in reading (recognizing letter shapes) and math (identifying geometric forms).

This version uses icons drawn from a fixed sprite library of simple shapes, animals, and everyday objects. Every image is generated from hand-picked drawing functions. No AI is used. The game runs entirely in your browser, and nothing is uploaded or stored.

What age is Shadow Matching suitable for?

The game is designed for children ages 3 through 5. Easy mode with 3 pairs is simple enough for three-year-olds, while Hard mode with 8 pairs challenges older preschoolers and kindergartners.

Is this safe for kids?

Yes. Every image is generated from a fixed library of hand-picked shapes and icons. No AI is used.
